Innovation has never been so ESEIEH for the energy industry
With Canada's stringent environmental policies can energy companies stay in the game?
Suncor Energy proposed a new oilsands operation this week, the Lewis Project, which is expected to come online in 2027. The Lewis project will produce 160,000 barrels of oil per day for an expected 25 to 45 years. With state-of-the-art Enhanced Solvent Extraction Incorporating Electromagnetic Heating (ESEIEH pronounced “easy”), the Lewis Project will replace traditional steam-assisted oilsands (SAGD) technologies.
With Canada’s leading environmental regulations, companies like Suncor are continuing to innovate while ensuring their projects are both economically and environmentally viable. The ESEIEH technology is no exception, generating heat within the oil reservoir using radio frequencies. This heating process will reduce carbon pollution and water usage. It will also reduce energy requirements by 75% compared to SAGD operations. Who knew innovation could be so ESEIEH.
With Canada’s world leading environmental standards will energy development in the oilsands continue?
